The International Kite and Sweet Festival 2026 is a vibrant cultural celebration held from January 13 to 15, 2026, at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Telangana.
Organized by the Telangana Department of Tourism, this three-day extravaganza transforms the city into a spectacular canvas of color, tradition, and culinary delight. Kite flyers from across the world and various Indian states gather to display an astonishing array of creative designs—ranging from giant 3D figures to traditional patterned kites—filling the winter sky with movement and joy. Alongside the aerial splendor, the festival celebrates the age-old spirit of Makar Sankranti, a harvest season festival marked with joy, community, and artistic expression.
Complementing the dynamic kite action is the International Sweet Festival, where hundreds of varieties of homemade sweets from diverse cultures and regions are showcased by local women and culinary artisans. Visitors can sample traditional delights such as laddoos, regional Telangana specialties, and international confections, making it a feast for the senses. The festival also features live cultural performances, handicraft and handloom stalls, and immersive exhibitions that highlight Telangana’s rich heritage, offering a delightful blend of entertainment, gastronomy, and cross-cultural exchange—all with free entry and activities that draw families, tourists, and kite enthusiasts of all ages.
