The harvest festival of Punjab, Baisakhi (Vaisakhi) Festival usually celebrated on 13 or 14 April every year.
Baisakhi (Vaisakhi) is a famous Punjabi festival among the Sikh community which is celebrated every year in the period between the months of April and May. Baisakhi is also observed in Bengal, Assam (Rongali Bihu) and Bihar too. This harvest festival is a colorful festival which entails food, music and dance.
During this day the farmers thank God for the good harvests and pray for giving good harvest in the next season. During this fest, local peoples prepare wide range of lip smacking homemade Punjabi delicacies like potato curry, sarson ka saag, makki di roti, poori, paneer tikkas, vegetable pakora, chicken biryani and more. The popular dance is Gidda played along with traditional music.

In Kerala, Baisakhi is known as Vishu which is a harvest festival and also considered as a festival of happiness, vibrant colors and light. On this day, the farmers celebrate the good harvest of the year and pray for an excellent year ahead. Vishu Kai Neettam (gift) and Vishukkani are the highlights of this fest.
