Indira Gandhi Boat Race will live during the last week of December, the festival is held along the backwaters of Cochin.
The much-celebrated Indira Gandhi Boat Race (IGBR) is a comeback to Kochi after a long gap of 27 years. The Tourism Department has decided to organize the event as part of the fifth round of the ongoing Champions Boat League (CBL) under the IGBR title.
It is all set to live in the last week of December in the backwaters of the Cochin city. It is popular throughout Kerala as other boat races like Nehru Trophy Boat Race, Champakulam Moolam Boat Race, Aranmula Uthrattadi Vallamkali, Payippad Jalotsavam, and Kumarakom Boat Race are held here.
It is one of the major tourist attractions of Kochi. The main aim of this festival is to boost tourism in the state of Kerala. The trophy of this race was instituted in memory of Indira Gandhi, the late Prime Minister of India.
