Unlock Corona with K-Pop(K-Pop India Contest 2020) digitally.
Korean Cultural Centre India is coming up with K-pop India contest 2020 in 18 cities. The 09thedition of the contest has reached its second phase. Under the epidemic situation prevailing globally, KCCI has brought new model for post corona era by taking the contest digital.
This year only solo entries were allowed for both the categories: Vocal and Dance. 1344 participants made their mark in first round by posting their videos on KCCI website and SNSs. This was held from 15th May to 15th June 2020. More than 150,000 fans had enjoyed the contest.
458 participants will now compete in the second regional round from 13th July to 16th August. This will be hosted by regional K-Pop fan club in collaboration with KCCI. All 18 cities will have 2 winners, one each in vocal and dance category. Fans can enjoy each of the contest through online platforms, most cities will have live performances.
The regional round winners will compete in the grand finale round on 12th September 2020. The 2 grand finale winners will be invited to Korea for music video shooting, cultural experience and exchange.
The 458 winners of the first rounds are from Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Guntur, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna and Pune. Delhi has the biggest fan following (participants) followed by Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru.
Even though the 2020 Changwon World Music Festival has been cancelled and the situation owing to the Pandemic is not stable, KCCI was able to receive a great number of participants. Owing to the ongoing Pandemic, and in compliance with the guidelines provided for precaution against COVID-19, it was decided that the Regional Round will be hosted on an online platform (youtube) not on spot as expected before. With all these limits and restrictions, nevertheless, KCCI is holding this event to encourage all Indian youngsters not to give up their passion and hope for the future.
