Christmas is a great festival of the year also known as the Feast day of Christ. It is celebrated annually by everyone worldwide, especially Christians. Christmas marks the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ, who is believed as the Son of God by the Christian community. It is a cultural holiday enjoyed by everyone irrespective of religion and caste worldwide. Christians mark Christmas Day by attending special church services, spending time with their family members and relatives, wearing brand new clothes and delicious festive meal is served at every Christian homes. People also exchange gifts among friends and relatives and give small presents or sweets to kids as a part of the celebration.

Being a multicultural country, all festivals are celebrated with lots of joy in India. India is home to a huge population of Christians who celebrate Christmas with their own rituals and traditions. A festival that celebrates the life, sacrifices and teaching of Jesus Christ, Christmas is not only about Santa Claus, lights, decorations and food, it is about Jesus Christ. The celebration of the Christmas starts in the Christians about four weeks before the Christmas and ends on 12th day of the Christmas. The tradition of celebrating Christmas varies from region to region within the country. Christian communities in India celebrate Christmas with pomp, gaiety and devotion.

Celebrations of Christmas begin on 24th of December on the eve of Christmas and continue till New Year's Day. Christians from all parts of India mark the birth of Lord Jesus Christ on Christmas Day by taking part in special masses organized in churches. Celebrations of Christmas are marked by carols, cakes, candles and decoration of Christmas tree. In several parts of India, especially in metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, Christmas Festival has assumed secular overtones and is joyfully celebrated by people of all religions and communities.
